I opened Kangoku Senkan 2 on a whim today (having first played it in like 2016 or so after learning JP for it) and I'm kind of overwhelmed with nostalgia and sorrow. Nostalgia because it's even more beautiful than I remember it, and sorrow because Lilith is dead and it's all gacha shit now.

What I want to say is that Kangoku Senkan 2 is still a masterpiece. I don't know what it is, maybe it's purely nostalgia goggles (it is one of my favorite nukige after all), but it feels like such a bold and artistically confident game. The scenario effortlessly paints a space opera to serve as the background for corruption, and the opening just as such a grand majesty to it - there's references to Shakespeare's King Lear for god's sake, and not just surface-level shit, but a real deal literary analogy comparing Cordelia fate of dying in jail to the fate of Cordelia's citizens in-game, particularly the two heroines. This is a minor element of course, but it's a reflection of the writer's boldness: it's not every nukige writer that sets this majestic setting dripping with allusions to tragic plays and the like. It's just so immediately gripping, and the artistic backgrounds by C'est moi only add to the aesthetic.

I don't know. I feel like at this point in time I've played all the nukige which interest me, and a lot of the new nukige that come out are so shallow without much artistic integrity. Like, yeah, I'm going to play Hadaka Shoujo's new game. I'm gonna nut to the big titted dark elf like everyone else. But what are the chances it's actually going to *say* something? What's the chances it's going to be more than just a cum rag to fap on, even if only in aesthetics?

God, I just miss old Lilith. It's so hard to find nukige that give a shit. It's not impossible, we're not in a drought, but damn. Kangoku Senkan 2 is just so fucking good it still stands out.
