Is this because of the sheer effort involved to get youkai to obey and not circumvent a rule to leave the human village alone? Some tragic history that makes doing what the guy did an incredible slap in the face? Or is it some simply sort of might makes right "You were never meant to obtain the power of a Youkai if you were so weak as to need the protection of the village."
