I think Hanyuu is very misunderstood as a character and horribly misrepresented in the anime. The VN only explains her origin in a metaphorical but kind of obvious way (they use alien terminology to talk about her tribe's arrival to Earth). And this isn't some weird console arc, it happens in Matsuribayashi.

Since it's all so vague, many people don't get the implication and assume Hanyuu is a totally unexplained character. She's not. So theorizing that she's somehow Featherine requires ignoring her characterization, her whole character arc, her origin and lore, and her rightfully earned place within the Higurashi cast, which was a big deal in Matsuribayashi. It requires considering her a non-character you can attach all sorts of bullshit to, which is simply not the case.

Hanyuu is heavily implied to be part of a race of fifth-dimensional creatures with the ability to shapeshift into human-like forms when they descend to the third dimension. When Rika explains her origin in Matsuribayashi, she says Hanyuu's tribe came to Earth in the distant past from a really far away place because something happened and they couldn't stay there. And she uses a bunch of alien terminology that should be obvious to anyone reading. Rena's delusions had some part of truth and foreshadowing, it wasn't all 100% bullshit. Ryuukishi put a gain of truth in there.

This is how Hanyuu managed to get a human form again in the last arc. She had been killed by Ouka in the past and made to bear the sins of the infected villagers, so they could blame the demon for everything and forgive each other for the tragedies. She spent a thousand years without a physical form until she met Rika, who is basically Ouka's reincarnation and inherited some of Hanyuu's power because of the 8th generation prophecy and because she's a direct descendant of Furude Hanyuu.

This is why Rika can literally create a miracle to stop the bullet. And why Hanyuu was even capable of gaining a physical form again. She is a being with the ability to make herself corporeal like that, she was just demotivated and wandering as a spirit because of what happened to her.

This is all more or less implied in Matsuribayashi and its last tip. I'm not making anything up. Just read it again and you'll see.
