I can tell you from my own experience that if you're looking for ship priorities getting Zuikaku and her horrible sister are very important. That A23 composition quest where you need both of them ends up being the root of a prereq tree that unlocks dozens of quests.

When you see a quest A23 that requires Shoukaku, Zuikaku, and 2 DDs focus all of your resources to fulfill that quest. That one quest ends up being a prereq to most of the quests in the game.

The prereq for the Type 0 Fighter Model 53 (Iwamoto Squadron) quest requires Shoukaku K2. I know this by heart as I spent several YEARS trying to get her so I could do all of those quests.

The quest that is the bane of my existance: A23 - Have Shoukaku, Zuikaku, and 2 Destroyers in your first fleet. This one quest starts a massive chain of 22 quests that reward the catapults, unlock 6-5, some interceptors, some daihatsu, and a myriad of planes. I've been stuck in this game for a year since coming back (and another year before I stopped) since I don't have Shoukaku and can't unlock all that cool stuff. While I like the reppu from my dupe taihou and the opportunity to have a white and black Sara, they don't help me progress my quest line at all.
