the guy's become obsessed with giving everyone a 'happy ending', even if that ending makes no sense or comes at the cost of saying something that seems pretty fucked up
just look at sotsu, teppei and rina are completely absolved of their past sins because memory leaks made them feel bad about it (and totally not about them dying in the end every time), takano doesn't even technically do anything bad anymore (just ignore all the shit she did before the story pls) so she's free to live unlike the people she murdered, and that MOTHERFUCKER okonogi gets to walk off with a big grin on his face because even he deserves to not get a single bit of punishment, somehow
the spin-off works like mei try to have SOMETHING happen regarding that at least, what with them adding that one character who's against teppei getting off scot-free, but her portrayal makes her seem unreasonable in punishing teppeis who never even did anything wrong and are just being good uncles, and in the end mei is built upon the foundation of a sequel produced entirely just to have satoko go around killing everyone and getting everything that she wants without consequence in the end, and the most they can do is make her suffer a little more to 'earn' her fucked up success, so it's flawed from the beginning
umineko's mei stories were written by ryukishi, and wouldn't you believe it the same shitty message of 'aaah don't worry about all those other versions of your friends you slaughtered the ones you're with RIGHT NOW forgive you!!' is pushed there too
i think ryukishi's become LESS cynical if anything, to an almost comedical degree, where EVERYONE deserves redemption and exoneration from any sort of consequence no matter what fucked up shit they've gotten up to in the past, present or future, and it's only making his old stories look worse by association considering those HAD characters suffer consequences for shit they merely THOUGHT about, never mind the shit they actually did

ryukishi has demonstrated he barely even understands higurashi himself these days severall times, he even sees it like a game of werewolf apparently so he probably thinks rika needs to have her turn as the wolf at some point
if we're lucky he'll think of a better excuse by then

Gotta say, it takes guts to kill off every ship and show the older characters in person to prevent any attempts to work around it. Bravo, Ryukishi you absolute madman, bra-fucking-vo.

Ryuukishi stares out into the busy streets. No one knows the pain he withstands, everyday. Ideas flow in and out of his brain like a vast waterfall, no rime or reason to them. Occassionally he's able to put one to paper, but the reasoning behind it slips away, and he's left with nothing but words scribbled onto scrap. There's so much he needs to write: Ciconia, the next collab he's doing with another company, another Higurashi rerelease... And yet, they all run out of his brain like tiny mice.
He breathes deeply, his hefty body, having kept well-fed after producing such a successful franchise, only growing slightly in stature. Perhaps a break would help with further thoughts. He heads to an English website, one filled with people who appreciate his works. Some make their own interpretations, some create their own spin-off ideas, and some simply mold their degeneracy upon his characters, his babies. He is no innocent man from this though, and that is why he takes his breaks there, to share in their collective ideas, to find further material to base his works upon.
Another poster talks of Rika, and how cute she is. Yes, she is cute indeed, just as he had intended. Suddenly, inspiration strikes. It is too powerful, too lewd to put in one of his works officially, but perhaps others in this community, his friends, would appreciate this furthering of his universe.
Before the ideas can slip away, he begins to type them. 'boning THE rika-chan...'
