There's nothing contrarian about hating a group of people who only got into touhou from a fucking plush toy. Back when touhou had its spotlight in 2000's, most people got into touhou because of the music and art, which eventually got them into the games. It had a positive impact on the community as a whole which fumos never brought in. Fumos had the unintended consequence of attracting twitters meme obsessed retards into the sphere and having them run rampant with their mental illness, invading any space that wasn't compliant with their warped perception of reality. Their passion for touhou didn't spread any farther than drawing "haha funny 9 ice fairy plushie" and then reposting said drawing on every fucking social media they had. They effectively took a miniscule subset of the community and made it their personality while never even realizing that touhou is more than a line of overpriced stuffed fabric.
