The optimal strategy for this game seems to be giving your companion as powerful as a hakkero as you can find, a damage boosting ring if you can find one, and to just use the highest HP equipment you have for yourself on the lower levels.

Also I'm using some rusted up blade that I reforged at Nitori's I think. Cost 133k about. But the best generic stuff is around that price as well. Eirin's selling high potions now as well. She gives discounts for bulk buying, however regular potions are just as effective if you switch to a low HP weapon and revert to under 30 HP for a bit.

Also I've unlocked a new dungeon, time to try that place out now.
