My only corruption is Heavy Carapace, no damage muts whatsoever. There's clearly some kind of natural scaling on melee bonus damage, and skills as far as I can tell don't have much of an effect on it. Here's a comparison with a pet with vastly better melee skills than me (323 tactics versus my 43, 220 long sword versus my 21, 63 MA versus my 22). Also a baseline Younger Sister for comparison's sake.

The weapon is a simple 2d5+1 artifact saber with no real special attributes.

My best guess is that strength growth grants bonus damage, with a different formula for weapon vs unarmed, but there's either a bug or an intentional nerf reducing the effect of temporary strength via buffs because Hero doesn't have a remotely proportional effect for what it grants.
