Of course this theory was when only TRI was announced as the next WtC without the name back in 2013 or so. To me, it made sense too. Mesa being detailed, and sci-fi is all about the future being plausible.

He got the writers from Rewrite to work with him.
He likely already wrote the outline and wanted to write it himself and publish it by the end of 2014. However, he was severely overworked.

Back in November 2013, he was sick with the dreaded cold and couldn't work. This pushed back the release of the final season of RGD by a few weeks. And it also made him rush the ending of the story.

He was also working on Sui, his other horror love story romance for two years as well as trying to write TRI by the end of 2014. It was too much for him so he said in the 2014 October Party that he would only release one title a year.

TRI is going to be three stories which are connected somehow, where you can hop from one story to another whenever you want. All of the stories will be related somehow by the theme or something else. That loli doll seems to be a united factor.
The three stories are highschoolers going on a field trip to a rual place. A sci-fi war in space, on a colony with the war taking interest on that planet colony. And an Alice in Wonderland story.

That's basically all I know of the project and what Ryukishi has been working on.

WtC5 is going to be ''three colonies'' in the cluster.
Funny enough, the cluster has three ideal area where these colonies can be established.

It also works with the synopsis given in the pamphlet.

Three worlds are connected somehow yet are separated.
What's going to happen is that there will be three catboxes, all connected by a curse.
Like, you open all three boxes and you find all three cats inside died the same way.

Basically, it's going to be three Higurashi villages in space with military shenanigan in space similar to Tokyo.

Not only that but Ryukishi is likely going to give more detail on Hanyuu and her clan.

We know from Rika that Hanyuu and her clan ''came to Hinamizawa'' by some weird means which even Rika couldn't explain (likely the sea of kakera or dimensions or whatever).
The clan came to Earth to escape something and just wanted a home when the villagers got paranoid and shit happened with Hanyuu.

That 2hu character and Hanyuu are likely pissed at each other because of this event.
We're going to hear small info about where they came from which will likely be the M37 cluster.
This will be where the three space colonies are established. Also, if you check wikipedia, you'll notice three ideal place to build an outpost in that sector.

Basically, imagine Higurashi with Oyashiro-sama but with ''an ancient race'' being the leftover remnants at that place being what is keeping an eye on the outpost.
And with the two opposing factions being similar to Tokyo.

In an interview, Ryukishi said that he was never going to do something like Umineko again.
People thought that meant that he would never do another WtC but that's wrong. Umineko was all about meta. I think his next work is going to be all about ''mesa''

Ryukishi loves to add interesting concepts like he did concerning Empicism in Umineko.

There will be more information on Hanyuu being an alien and whatnot and this will likely coincide with where she came from as well as the next setting for WtC INNNN SPAAAACEE.

Higanbana was simply Ryukishi resting and doing something easy. No real connection to the WtC series.
He was likely taking this time to plan the next WtC.
This is theorized by him not doing much of the art in Rose Guns Days.
Instead of wasting time doing the art there, he simply focused on Space WtC.
Also worth noting that RGD used a lot of left over tracks from Umineko. So it's quite possible that dai and the other composers have been working on the next WtC exclusively.

There's a lot being speculated.
Basically, it takes place in space.
My personal theory is that we're going to get backdrop info on Hanyuu and how she came to Hinamizawa.

Personal bet is that Hanyuu is an alien and that we are going to learn more on Hanyuu, her race and her clan. There would technically be some merit to Takano's bullshit theory on the space ship in the swam.
Rika also mentions in Higurashi that Hanyuu came to Hinamizawa a long time ago by some unknown means which were written in the ancient scroll in the Shrine.

We will likely hear that they came from the M37 Cluster for whatever reasons and the next WtC will take place in three separate space station in that cluster.

Ryukishi stated in an interview that he did not have plans for making a WtC yet but if he did, it would be something across time and generations.
Something akin to curses across time periods and families, space and location.

Another point of interest is that Ryukishi said that he did not want to make another Umineko.
This has been interpreted as Ryukishi not wanting to make a WtC but this is false. He simply doesn't want to make a heavily meta game like Umineko.
I personally theorize that rather than meta, he will do ''mesa''.
Mesa is inner descriptive and goes more into details which is opposite to meta.
