Frankly, I don't even see the attraction. As a gaijin mangaka, you'll inevitably face great workloads, sharp deadlines, financial hardship, to say nothing of facing racism and social dysfunction (let's face it, the Japanese are a lock-step, xenophobic people).
If you like drawing anime, draw anime, you don't need to make your life complicated by making a career out of it.

Compromise or something: Move to the West coast, or at least out of the fucking Deep South. You'll be better off than Georgia, and frankly better off than in Japan.
