Can it really be said to be an afterlife of Japan's culture if it's only really the youkai and gods involved, which is a pretty narrow part of culture, overall?
It isn't like Gensokyo's humans are the stewards of lost traditions or anything, nor anything for the many local cultures spread throughout the country; in practice it's just a snapshot of a small village that's not allowed to progress because their only purpose now is to sorta kinda believe in monsters and gods.
Having there only be one human village was probably a mistake; the world would feel far more alive if there's multiple villages with stark differences between them, forming room for conflicts and differing cultures amongst the humans, where some are vehemently against youkai, while others are more capable of cooperating and have a degree of understanding between each other (not tengu). Just make the world feel alive instead of a playground where nothing really matters.

Can we go one thread that doesn't devolve into a bunch of tengu stirring up shit for no reason?

Felt like trying my hand at some of the remaining lunatic clears I have left in HSiFS. Winter Aya is simple enough for the most part but Okina's final absolutely bends me over a table. I lost 3 runs on the final card, one of which had 2 extra lives by the time I reached it, and figured I should just suck it up and go practice it. I capped it in normal to understand what the different parts of the pattern are, but on lunatic everything is too fast for my tiny brain to process in time. Feels like from phase 3 onwards I'm stuck at the bottom of the screen trying to weave between the different overlapping patterns and failing. I might have a chance if I can finish the spell card with 6 bomb/misses total in thprac, but that's beyond me so far.

Yeah, but that sort of lie works better if you have at least some plausible deniability. When the person in question is going to be directly involved with you (and loves to talk shit about tengu), such a lie becomes a little too impossible, even for the always true and honest Aya.

Okina is probably the only boss in Touhou whose final you can realistically time out without even intending to. She's way too mobile and if you can't keep up with her the spells tend to really drag on. Not to mention some characters have really long bombs, I forget if it was Cirno or Marisa which had a 7-second long bomb, so you can just spam bombs to not have to deal with Okina's bullshit and end up timing the spell out.

The same applies to extra Okina by the way, iirc I got my Marisa clear by timing out her final.

ok, real talk /jp/. this series' theme is drinking booze; one chapter, mamizou plotted with suika so they could get a place to get shitfaced on the human village. but in the end of all, the sake is shitty? no wonder kanako was disappointed with that hyped up store. the only kind of people who drink there is suika, who would consider gasoline as good enough option, dumb mamizou and fucking aya. I'm suprised those eyesores would drink whatever. what a dumb, useless, incompetent whale, only good for her sex appeal.
