Leather cuirass is the bare minimum armor I try to give infantry, and even then, it's not that great.
I'm not sure what kind of niche Yuugis should fill then, because Yamames are pretty decent as shock troops. They only carry two boulders each and cost 40. I might bump them up to like 55 now that I think about it.
