Hanyuu loses her memories when she's too far away from Rika. Her existence is flimsy enough already, she can't just wander around to spy on people. If she tried to spy on Takano and Tomitake to see what the fuck kills them, the next second she would be sitting near Rika three hours later. Everything she learned while she was a way would be missing from her memory, stored away in her "god" personality's memory.

Remember how she literally observed Ooishi's entire fucking life since he was a kid? Or how she knew all about Takano's intentions during the prologue of Matsuribayashi? Or how her personality changed completely when she went into god mode?

She enters some sort of omniscient state when she's like that, but when she's around her reincarnation she forgets most of it and becomes more childish and naive.

It's like how Rika merges with "Bernkastel" in the sea of fragments every time she dies. When she's like that, she remembers every single memory of every single life, in full detail, since she's a purely meta being without the limitations of a physical brain. And that's also why she's so jaded during Higurashi, says that she doesn't really care about Hinamizawa anymore and talks about Rika in the third person. During this immaterial meta state, she can think fourth dimensionally and access all of her memories faster than a super computer, that's how she comes up with her XYZ theories and why her personality is so different.

Rika wouldn't be able to function if she had thousands of years worth of memories jammed into her physical brain, including the hundreds of repetitions of the exact same events and all the traumatizing shit that she went through in several arcs. She wouldn't be able to go on if she remembered what Shion did to her in detail. So, when Bernkastel is about to possess a the body of a new Rika in the next world, Hanyuu sort of "filters" her memories and doesn't let her remember the truly bad shit while she's human. That's why she's always "100 years old", even though she's probably lived far longer than that.

I like to think that Satoko eventually develops an unhealthy codependent relationship with K1 even in the timelines where no one dies. She's already lost one brother, and she'd do anything to stop the person she's come to think of as a second brother from leaving her as well.

Eventually, her feelings become something resembling romantic love.

I want to protect that smile.
