Oh, and you might have to think for your sidekick 'talks'. Supposedly each sidekick has favorite subjects and you're able to choose one subject every half hour to talk about. Choose the right one and you sidekick's favor will go up towards you. Choose wrong and it'll either stay the same or drop. The sidekick gets better stats the more it favors you. At level 38 I've gotten two items to increase its favor towards you to the limit and keep it there for three days. You don't ever actually have a conversation with the sidekick.
