I really like The Lord of the Rings, especially the movies. It's obvious and undeniable that Tolkien's works have had a lasting impact on the fantasy genre of fiction, and by extension, otaku culture. Yet, I never really see any connections to it in Japanese media other than the usual broad and generic things present in most other fantasy fiction anyway. What do nips think of TLoTR? Are they indifferent about it, and it's just something that happened a while ago that happened to influence fantasy fiction? Does anybody know any interesting facts about foreign reception of the film/books?

Also, feel free to discuss any other oldschool otaku/nerd(western connotation of otaku?) things that defined precedents, were trendsetters, or were otherwise very important, like DnD or wargames, and how they were received/not received in Japan.

She was already one of Satori's chief pets along side Orin (generally considered smarter by the fans) that would be able to give orders to the rest of her other pets and manage Former Hell together with Satori and Koishi being the only ones above them.

So Satori found Utsuho competent enough to control something extremely dangerous despite being considered a retard and all her other pets that could be smarter (like another Blazecat)

And it seems regardless of who receives the power of Nuclear Fussion/Fission, the knowledge of the two would be inherit between the merging of the god and the receiver.

So why didn't Kanako just pick one of the underlings of Okuu and Orin?
