try hukumusume! easy short childrens stories (so mostly kana), with audio and a simple grammar structure!
once your context grows, so will your comprehension, even if you don't even know what every word means (in english)
also, watame and okayu are fun and do a lot of rpgs, might be something to try

my first games were igavanias, ender lilies, and things like that, text is concentrated in certain spots, gameplay is great, and you have a bestiary with tons of fun interesting things and pictures!
if you like vns, try nekopara, its a wholesome story about the bonds between cats and their masters!
whatever you are interested in will work though, something you are interested in will work better than something you are not but is more "educational"
