It's more noticeable in larger, written scripts. Kanji was never meant to be used as a tiny font on a computer screen and it really shows. Granted English wasn't either but every English character aside from I and l are distinct enough to tell apart easily, even at relatively small sizes, and thanks to how words are formed you can ALMOST always tell I and l apart via context. That and there's this kerning in some fonts to absolutely clear up any ambiguity.
But anyways Kanji/Chinese characters were not designed to be digitalized and it shows.

Honesty they should have standardized this as capital I. This is the one I learned as a child and I have no clue why every font uses a non-descript character that can be easily mistaken with lowercase L when this exists.
