Yeah, I thought it was weird because i was able to get it working on a different machine in the past. So I downloaded a different version of the game, one with an English patch, and it worked.

When I tried running both vsync and the japanese .exe, I got gibberish messages like pic rel. I think it just has to do with system locale or something, but I'm not that familiar with wine

Anyways, I'm glad I got EoSD to work on the penguin operating system. It was my first touhou game and is still my favourite.
