They're a minority as far as rulers go anon. They are more pro-active, but most mamono realm expansion comes from passive means or cities/nations willingly allying with monsters.

Indeed it's noted that rather than dark mamono realms, it's actually the bright green kind that are increasing rapidly in recent times in the MGE world.

Polove looks gorgeous as well. Saphirette did some great work making it a verdant green paradise.

Regarding the story, I found it enjoyable, even if a lot of the monsterizations felt rather shallow. I think that is sort of the idea though, showcasing the disconnect between how monsters may talk and behave when in the throes of ecstasy, and how they and their husbands actually live their lives.

The gyoubu danuki even remarks on how she thinks humans got the wrong impression of what Lescatie has become, thanks to how wild everyone was in the aftermath of the takeover and the mass husband hunting that resulted.

The ending was especially great and very heartfelt. It's been a while since sprites last gave me the feels like that.

Someone clearly hasn't read the elemental handbook from World Guide 2.

> And a dark matter grants her own power to the man who became her beloved husband, or rather, “covenanter”. Men who become covenanters become able to freely manipulate the black object, a mass of mamono mana which is regarded as the element of darkness, which dark matters, including the author, ride on, as if it were a part of their own body.

>This is almost literally begging the question, though. The setting - in the sense of the printed books - doesn't spend hardly any time on checks for "are you happy with this ending".

What do you mean? The printed books have TONS of such things. KC's Q and A sessions often just involve him repeating things directly from the books, or giving extra details regarding things from the books.

Try reading through World Guide 2, Saphirette talks a lot about quality of life for monsters and incubi in mamono realms.
