Sorry, I ended up using Mugenkan to mean the dream/fantasy world as well as the mansion itself.
It's really confusing though, keeping track of all 3 terms.

I like the idea that the PC98 shooters (Not PoDD or HRtP) all take place in the mountains in the other direction of the Hakurei shrine.
I have this image in my head of distant mountains, with a huge stretch of land between the HS and them, and the idea that the farther you go out to the mountains, the less logical sense the terrain starts making, with the lake of blood being a medium distance between the HS and some point where the laws of physiscs break down to the point where you can't go any further.
I know it goes against the canon as laid out in FS, but I like my version better.
Besides, having Gensokyo being a recursive space just seems boring, does it not?
Having the HS and Human village be an oasis of normalcy in a sea of irrationality seems more fitting for me.
