>I mean, we've just seen the mess he made in Sotsu, which is why I wouldn't rule out him hoping people forgive whoever is the villain here just because in the final world they won't accomplish anything.
Yeah, and we can see Tomato work hard to fix things and make Witchtoko not a complete shitshow. Reiwa's antagonist presumably also won't be a long established character who gets a full volume dedicated towards developing their character further and give us a sympathetic view of them. As ham-fisted as Ryukishi may be, I can't imagine the mangaka making just as much of a mess as Sotsu was. Surely they're at least a little in-touch with the audience, right?

>These are taken mutually from Takano and Satoko.

Ryukishi has gone out of his way to exclaim that Takano and Lambdadelta don't look alike. It's a pretty definitive claim on his part, unlike the part that talks about Lambdadelta appearing in Higurashi, where he weasels his way out of anything resembling a definitive statement.
>and was apparently the first person Rika went to for help way back at the beginning of her loops
Where do you get this from? I don't remember Rika ever saying anything about going to Takano for help in her early loops. She did try to avert her and Tomitake's fates before, but Rika disliked Takano for seeing her and Satoko as mere guinea pigs for her research, and didn't attempt to trust her until Minagoroshi, where she mused over her past failings and decided she needed to make a more earnest attempt if she wanted to avert her own fate.

Takano never really cared all *that* much about Rika, either. Sure, she was an extremely important research specimen, but so were the dam worker, Satoko, and Rika's mom. She's obsessed with the pathogen itself as a means to prove her grandfather's theories regarding brain parasites, and Rika is only one factor in it. H170, which is one of the few products from the research that can be definitively traced back to Takano 's efforts over Irie's, came from her studies on how the pathogen triggers the syndrome on Satoko's brain in '80, without Rika being involved at all. It was always Irie who cared the most about the cure and thus their studies on Rika, while Takano was focused on all aspects of the pathogen, and would gladly infect others if it meant more opportunities for her research.

I'm also not sure how you can completely overlook potential connections to Satoko when the first thing Lambda does is go HOHOHOHOHOHO. How do you look at a blonde, fanged, easily lonely bitch, go ohohoho and not think immediately of Satoko?
