Type Lumina is a prequel fighting game featuring the characters as depicted in the visual novel remake of Tsukihime's Near Side route, -A piece of blue glass moon-, and originally meant to serve as a "what-if scenario".

Unlike Melty Blood Act sub-series, which took place after both Tsukihime's non-existing route of Satsuki Yumizuka (a year later),
and Kagetsu Tohya (a month later) in original timeline, Type: Lumina takes place in ten days before Tsukihime -A piece of blue glass moon-.
