Im more of an advocate of the Higurashi multiverse system being possible to apply to the game boards and outside of it in that Ange dying in one world and living in another one are two separate possibilities, the same way in which the detective whos name I can't remember from Himatsubushi having her pregnant wife die due to disregarding Rika's warning and surviving in another reality are shards of the many possible outcomes. It seems Ryu uses multiverse to confuse his readers when mixing in the meta world but then again it's quite easy to apply multiverse to explain the inconsitencies.
