He straight up says that asking said friends for help would cause friction in real life. In Higurashi it's the opposite, it's what solves problems, we literally see in the next arc that this is how Rena solved her Rina problems, all because she asked for help instead of keeping quiet.

That's the moral of all arcs. The characters grow paranoid and stop trusting their friends. Communication prevents tragedies, paranoia prevents communication.

I don't think it's appropriate to call Rena's emotions "fake", we've seen her narrate from her own perspective her desires to see Satoko and Rika in inappropriate outfits and shows genuine adrenaline during intense club activities, but more importantly it's her enjoyment of the days in Hinamizawa with her friends that's the most real emotion of them all hence why it's what she wants to protect the most, which is why Rina's appearance affects her so much. I also wouldn't call her being murderous a straight up character trait since it only happens in Tsumihoroboshi due to her mental deterioration just like it happened with Keiichi before. In Minagoroshi she says she that solved the matter peacefully and that she remembered her poor choice of actions in the previous world. She doesn't even kill the yamainu members who are actually trying to murder her and her friends, just smacks them in the head with the back of her hatchet.
