The youkai so harmless she was employed as a babysitter, and is so bad at scaring people she gets depressed over it.
The fact is, most of the 2hu's are written by zun to be likeably unlikeable. Yuugi's another one, she's always seen to be easygoing and carefree, but one of the most popular set of images as "proof" that she must be scary is the fact that in fanon she's pretty tall, and she's an oni. Sure, if you got her mad she'd be terrifying, but how exactly are you going to do that? You can't hurt her, she's probably not the type to feel too insulted, and it's not like she's territorial or anything. She only "attacks" you in SA because she's bored and practising her fighting technique to not spill from her dish. Is that the behaviour of a homocidal demon? No. And apart from joke characters (sorry Rumia), none of the 2hu's appear to be that pissed at humans, apart from maybe medicine, but she's pretty docile in her field.

It's very annoying to have your waifu being portrayed as some ridiculous caricature of themselves. Secondaries make this problem 100x worse by only ever referring to "secondary" sources, like LW or other fan content. Some of it is pretty good, I like LW, but it shouldn't be taken as a pure reflection of the characters' personalities.
You can tell I'm a Yuuka fan, can't you?
