Not the previous guy, it's just easier copy pasting this from the previous thread

RGD ending spoilers
This will be a bit fragmented due to your post
I thought of the same when I first read that Meryl married Wayne. So there wasn't dialogue confirming it (hinting it strongly) or anything? It certainly wasn't Zel, she is living in South America with her dad since they are refugees. I sure hope it wasn't Nina, that would be a bit awkward, you know, a boss marrying his subordinate. Apropos you saying she died of alcoholism, I mean I guess it is a possibility, but she could just have died "normally" as well. Btw, I think she already abandoned prostitution before the ending, she was the new madam, she probably didn't have time for customers.

You thought it was weird that his grandson was a mafioso, but it isn't. Like father like son (for two generations). His children are likely to be involved since Wayne has such an important position. They would have a high-ranking position from the get-go. Wayne also believes in Primavera's ideals so he views the organization positively and he's all about "leaving it to the people in the future". Maybe he also is a romantic who wants his grandson to serve Rose's granddaughter, who knows?

Keith is dead? Well, it's quite likely, nobody liked him except Richard and he's a powder-keg. Therefore I doubt that Primavera would let him live or do anything to protect him from Meijiu's wrath if they themselves for some reason decide to spare him themselves. I like to think that Alan sacrificing his life to save Keith is a wake-up-call that gets him back to normal. That afterwards he flees and tries to atone from his sins in some way. Nothing is definite so it's up to us to decide. When I think about it maybe that is what Ryukishi wanted? He talked about it in the secret ending in Higurashi remember? Or maybe he is just a lazy hack. That is open for interpretation as well :)

For Butler's situation I'm unsure. If it was said that the modern Tokyo was Chinese dominated then Butler was most likely imprisoned along with the entire GHQ in city 23. If not then the people at the absolute top must have done something. If the latter happened Butler would probably be punished though, just not officially. His life was over when Ange died. The reason I believe the latter opportunity can exist is because everyone hated Gabriel once they found out how he was really like, they were constantly plotting how to get rid off him. For them to find a solution once the man was dead due to "Richard killing him" seems reasonable to me.

Apropos Charles&Nina I don't remember enough to form my own opinion. I seem to remember Nina growing to at least tolerating being a lady of the evening. Wasn't she at least a bit close to Meryl as well? For Charles he may still have learned some useful things in general and maybe he's got some cred by working with Rich Bamboo, James wasn't hated by everyone right? That might be true or not, but regardless they might be tired of the mafia life. So maybe they will go after Zel like you said. We don't know what happened and I can't imagine what they felt at the end of the story.

I stand by my opinion of the ending. Yes, there were epic moments, but on the whole I thought it was bad because I didn't get the closure I wanted. Anyway, the part where Zel kicks Maurice's gun upwards so he blows his own brains out and then him falling on Oliver's grave was pretty cool.

Is there any of those fan-made stories you recommend specifically?

What do you think of Ryukishi as a writer? Both his storytelling and prose.
Was he a one-hit-wonder?
What is your favorite work of his and why?
What have you read?
I know that's quite a lot of questions, don't feel obligated to answer all of them. I would just like some discussion about the man whose works have enraptured you for some reason or another.
