on a related note, realise that the fan favourite hyper elegant mode Hijiri doesn't seem to be the image she even likes for herself; she seems much edgier IRL and obsessed with horror movies and the whole fashion/subculture those interests entail. as far as i'm concerned, Hibari Hijiri is essentially a different character she's playing even outside of her movie roles -- but so was Hijiri Maihara. on some level, all JAV actresses are. this doesn't need to be a bitter pill to swallow, if anything i think it's a more zen approach. i bypass the earlier stages of grief and move straight into acceptance because i enjoy things for what they are, not for what i wish them to be
