Haven't really payed attention to the exact amount of materials my pets get for me and other anon got me curious about how much one pet can pluck from a dungeon. Pic has the materials my pet Yuki managed to collect from all the monsters she killed in three dungeons. Due to RNG, the amount collected in the future will probably fluctuate but I thought I'd share a sample. I had Yuki kill everything while I hung back to train my buff spells.

Does necromancy take a lot of materials? Or are you worried about crafting rods? For rods, I'd rush getting the dupli special action which lets you use rods that do damage for free. As in they don't take charges. They do a bit less damage when you turn dupli on but if you need to cut loose you can always turn dupli off and switch on quick use to really spike your damage.

You'll miss some cutscenes. I know you'll miss the one upon entering Vernis at the very least. However, I wouldn't worry too much about it. There's an item in the game called the playback disk which I think you can purchase at the Cyber Dome. The disk lets you see all past cutscenes which you've unlocked. Do note though that you will need Elona Custom to take advantage of the playback disk for scenes beyond 0 due to Elona Custom being the one that unlocks cutscenes. For a person like me that got to Act 3 before he even heard about Custom this was pretty cool. All the cutscenes I never saw, since I had only played Elona+, were just sitting there unlocked for me waiting for me to catch up with what I missed.

But yeah, try to avoid doing story related stuff so you'll just experience the cutscenes naturally.
