What exactly is so captivating about these Japanese pop idols?

Personally I find the music to be terrible, the dancing to be ridiculously robotic and the girls fake.

I know this is true with pretty much a good description of pretty much pop music in general, but what redeeming qualities are there in corporate made J-Pop?
