From a relativist point of view Kingdom Hearts is indeed mediocre. To make the claim that Kingdom Hearts is 'good' you have to back it up with evidence. To debunk your baseless claim, I will first judge Kingdom Hearts' compound genres of gameplay individually:

-As an adventure game it's pitiful in comparison to other games like Zelda. Linear areas, laughable amount of secret items and hidden areas, and last but not least, little to no side-quest and mini-games.
-As an action game it doesn't hold a candle to Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden. But with a battle system as clunky and uninspired as Kingdom Hearts', you probably already knew that. And don't get me started on the off-timed jump and primitive camera routines. Square-soft was clearly in over their head with this one.
-As an RPG it was Square-Enix tier, and by that I mean it was just another run-of-the-mill JRPG. The leveling up system was contrived, the item system was dated, etc...
-As a compound genre - where do I begin? Unlike other mixed genre games like Metroid, Metal Gear, or Zelda. Kingdom Hearts doesn't have one thing its good at. Metroid Prime for example may not be the best FPS out there but you'll be hard stretched to find a better adventure game out there.
