If I were to break down all the time wasting playing habits that often get in way of any actual playing I'd say...

15% or so is from constantly leaving it open in the background.

20% is from me just meandering around in the game while listening to a podcast or something.

And inbetween the actual gameplay, I'll tend to take too many detours or get distracted easily hunting for useless things like bobbles and furniture like some klepto packrat with really bad ADHD or something.
