Are cliches not something to be avoided in japanese media?
Because I randomly downloaded an eroge released last month, and the first scene was the protagonist opening a window to see a girl changing the next house over, whereupon she screams HENTAI!! and all the usual shit happens. I shut it off immediately on reflex.

Seriously, what's up with this? Don't people usually avoid cliches, or at least try to subvert them in some way? Why is this acceptable in japan? Jesus Christ, maybe I should have stuck with translated ones and never learned japanese, because it's steadily become apparent to me that this is the most creatively bankrupt genre in existence. Makes hollywood movies look avant-garde.
