My last CRT died on me, I decided to get a laptop, LCD is fine for modern games and stuff specifically designed for it, but MAME and other stuff looks pretty ass on it. If you shop around you can get a good asus or iiyama LCD panel that doesn't have any lag or anything, but it still can't replace a good CRT to play arcade games on.

Over the last 2 - 3 months I've spent around 40 hours reading about games, and only 2 actually playing games.
