Now that was something you newfags did do right. The rise of Kancolle and the popularity of the shipbitches was so forced and engineered, it was excessively sheepish how all those Touhou doujin artists flocked to creating Kancolle works all of a sudden--Couple that with the asinine region-locking and the anti-consumer lottery registration system that persists to this day, the shitposting was a nice little way of getting some payback.

I never liked ZUN's art. I'm not sure why people keep clamoring how it's his "style" when he has trouble drawing hands and feet.

Regardless, the fact that Touhou became popular despite having subpar art shows that a series doesn't have to resort to using overt sex appeal just to gain fans in the doujin community. You know, cheap tricks like using oversexualized character designs or ripping the characters' clothing whenever they take major damage, and the like.
