Character mystery is actually a pretty good concept and I'm actually surprised ZUN could pull a detective story using a mind reader without giving Satori a handicap (instead she has to deal with unique culprit and she has to gather clues from the victims).
Mystery doesn't have to be about murder or "the culprit is among us guize XD". Finding the nature and motive of the culprit are enough and you know these two traits are what distinguish Touhou characters (even if what they did are usually harmless) so at least it'd be like how Touhou canon story is usually written, albeit in different format and is actually closer to the game storytelling.
The last chapter was sorta picked up too with how much info we got about the culprit and Reimu finally about to get physical. I hope someone else continued the story.
