If you don't mind a particularly exploitative method then find the moongate with a lot of bubbles in it. Easiest way to get a living weapon's experience up. Though I'm not sure if this was nerfed by the living weapons update.

If you meant in terms of what to put on it, then for pure killing ability, several types of elemental damage, magic, chaos, and nerve to name some of the more popular ones, skills like marksman, tactics, and eye of mind. If you're feeling particularly defensive you can go for boosts to all the resistances you're lacking. You may also want to consider making it into a utility item with multiple skill ups to skills like gene engineering, fishing, and alchemy if you already have an awesome weapon and the living weapon is of a poor type.

Living weapons sadly can't get to their previous level of insane power, but now they're much much easier to work with. Though yeah, pictured is a pre living weapon update living weapon which was leveled using name scrolls.

The Elona+ dev nerfed living weapon names sometime after 1.06 since I was able to abuse the list for a good shotgun then.

In 1.16, it's now possible to choose from a much larger variety of enchantments making it much easier to mold your living weapon. However the enchantments have been nerfed in strength and returns are diminishing so no more easy super weapons.
