Satoko had regrets, too, and then she shot those in the face. The issue is not just with Satoko and Kinzo themselves, it's how all the other characters and the narrative itself try to convince us to not care about anything they did despite their complete lack of efforts towards actual redemption.
It's a bizarre apologism that even infects the characters themselves, to the point where the Hou+ cast party just talking about how good it is that Satoko got all of it out of her system, with only Rika caring about the suffering she went through.
