A more neutral quote might be

Battler would most probably be a prosecuting attorney right? Doing whatever he can to prove that the defendant did it and not a witch.

So, out of the first 4 umineko episodes, the one that bothers me the most is epsiode 2 (SN, not the anime). Specifically the first twilight.

The main inconsistency is how the fantasy part of the story is told. Rosa is in the chapel with the rest of the adults, and also claims that she has been shown a devil. However, through the rest of the episode, she never acts as if that happened at all. Any other magic and people would confess to having seen it. Even Rosa claims that Beatrice remade the broken candy (which is absurd, considering how many candies Maria has or gave away in the first place).

Everything else I can find some type of justification, especially considering new information from episodes 3 and 4. Rosa could definitely have a split personality, one where she believes herself to be Beatrice, and it is caused by the trauma of the true Beatrice's death 20 years ago. The timing also coincides with Beatrice's entrance to the mansion. Kinzo's will was intriguing at first, since it is never revealed, but since Kinzo is already dead, it simply means that Genji and Shannon have no alibi. And so on, although none of this could be right.

However, I just don't understand why Rosa was at the chapel but shows no memory of it, unless the game is clearly trying to say that she was either the culprit or an accomplice for those murders.
