... although it's a bit unclear since both Keine and Mokou are sometimes drawn with cobalt or teal hair.

Come to think of it, haven't seen a lot of transforming characters besides Keine whose hair turns *darker* when they transform.

Thought about it, but it seems oni have their origins relatively firmly rooted in the Siberia. They are distinct from the "horned god" type of deities, who are usually peaceful and serious, and found worldwide without any direct connection.
