I did rewatch the beginning. I think it's not a monologue but a conversation. It's kind of weird as it'd have to be Akiha deciding to "bury it deep in the shelves". Pretty sure what follows - his dream - is him seeing Akiha kill SHIKI on the school roof. So maybe she was talking to SHIKI there?
