Irrelevant

>in japan hasn't the amount of songs produced fallen?
Going by raw numbers? Maybe, but not by much, actually. VOCALOID is slowly recovering since 2016 and we have a ton of very high quality producers out there. If you ask my opinion, it is much more sane today than having millions of meme songs published with 18 views each like in the past. You would say VOCALOID is not more mature.

Still the numbers of songs produces is not related to "the popularity of Miku is going down". Miku is becoming more and more popular as a character in Japan, to the point is starting to be associated with Japanese culture in a way nobody else did before:

In fact, the prime minister of Japan has mentioned Miku as a very important asset for the promotion of Japanese culture in Japan and many of us think that her singing a song in the Olympics is a very real possibility (the commission for the Olympics already discussed this possibility).

Her number of concerts is now higher than before, with 2018 having two Magical Mirai, two Miku Symphony, one Miku x KODO, one Snow Miku, one Kabuki play, the Miku EXPO in America and the Miku EXPO in Europe. And, if you follow people on Twitter, you'll realice there are so many collabs and events related with Miku across the country that you wouldn't be able to be in all of them even if you had the time and money to do so.

And then you have Goodsmile Racing with Miku livery being the first Japanese team to participate in the SPA 24h and to be officially supported by Mercedes-AMG.

Miku is huge right now.
