The whole St.Lucia dream still feels forced and out of place. It's a jarringly obvious story setup to isolate Satoko from everyone and enable the story to unfold as it does.

I think it would've worked better if looper Satoko managed to persuade Rika to drop the Lucia idea, but she would still always end up abandoned by Rika soon after they leave Hinamizawa. Even though the subsequent scenarios might not have been as harsh on Satoko as St. Lucia, by that point she would've been too focused on Rika's betrayal to even notice.
