Theory: The shenanigans Wurmy gets up to might look like magic, but in reality she's just so kind and pure that the gods are incapable of seeing her unhappy and go along with whatever nonsense she feels like doing that day.

For example:

She's now 100ft down wearing a cute little mask and snorkel and spinning around happily in the water having the time of her life. Poseidon made sure to let all the nearby fishies know she's cool and basically the whole reef showed up to the party (along with some mermaids and a sea bishop or two for vocals). An observer might wonder how her snorkel is working while completely submerged, but she remains blissfully unaware.
