It went through 2 gameplay fuck ups. The first time it wasn't changing the meta for about a half a year and certain heroes dominated so people got bored and fucked off.

The 2nd time there was something like... 8 months of Overwatch heroes and they completely ignored gameplay. They could attack while moving, ignore terrain, and so on. In fact most of them are still high on the meta .

One of the overall reasons was they had no relatively inexpensive way of obtaining all the heroes as well.
