Keep in mind at least part of the answer will probably be related to the faces on Dragon Quest slimes and KC wanting to emulate that. Even slimes that in their profile art don't have such faces seem able to get them when parts are split off to make jelly (in this image at least seemingly only if the jelly reaches a certain size).

To be clear, some slimes do hate to give their jelly to anyone but their husband, but it depends on the type. Queen slimes and some others can be negotiated with, dark slimes love to give out their corrupting jelly, while with regular blue slimes you have to steal it or ask their husband to cajole her into giving some up.

I love how the advice for getting jelly from a blue slime is simply to ask their husband to negotiate for you.

Based on what has been in the lore thus far, the intelligence of the lowest slimes, the blue, is as follows. Namely they can speak and hold conversations, however, their thoughts are heavily focused on instinctual desires such as feeding and mating so you're not likely to get much depth from them. As such its difficult to negotiate with them for their slime jelly as to them the things you offer for trade aren't worth giving up body mass that she'd rather feed to her husband or use to reproduce.

But that its also noted that asking the husband of such a slime to negotiate in your place suggests they are susceptible to their husband's begging, arguments, etc.

I recall back when the bubble slime's remake was released KC released with it a funny little series of slime emoticons depicting a few types of slime discussing the bubble slime's remade profile. If I remember the red slime talked like an enthusiastic teenager, whereas the bubble slime had slow, stilted speech, just a few words at a time.
