Realism limits Vocaloid's potential. Why would you just make it an inferior version of the human voice, when you could turn it into something different, something that can do things no human can. It's sad to see people falling for the realism meme. They have no imagination.
I got into Vocaloid because it didn't have the limitations of human singers and wasn't plagued by reality's necessary evils, like having to take breaths between the lines (impossible to unhear once you notice it), only to find people adding such flaws anyways because of their obsession with realism. Realism isn't necessarily a good thing. Flaws are flaws, if Vocaloid songs don't have them then don't add them.
