Anon, this might be a bit late, but... I realize that having your dreams shattered is really painful, especially for the first time. But you need to realize that what you're feeling is fairly universal. You met a girl, you thought she loved you, which fulfilled a deeply felt need inside you, and this caused your brain to produce dopamine and oxytocin, pleasure chemicals. When you realized your love was based on an illusion, the dopamine levels in your brain crashed, causing you to feel horrible pain. But this is just a bug in your brain's reward circuitry. It will pass.

The attraction you felt is called limerence. And the thing is, if you felt it once, you are going to feel it again, for somebody else. Even if it feels like you won't. It's a part of limerence to feel that the other person is the only one for you. Everybody feels like that. But it's not truth, it's illusion. Your brain will make you feel this again, and the next time it could easily be someone who will reciprocate your feelings. As long as you don't give up now.

You see, life is ultimately a giant video game. You can have a lot of fun with it, if only you learn to play it. You can make shitloads of money and spend it on stuff you love. Or you can learn to pick up girls like a casanova. Or, if you're inclined, you can spend your time for some greater purpose, become a novelist, fight for the walls of peace, touch God's wisdom. But first you need to learn to play. And you can't do that if you forfeit now.

Keep on playing, Anon. Ryukishi believes in you.
