So, I nodded to Reimu. Not much point in standing around there waiting for a while. We began to descend the steps, and I found that the full outfit that I was wearing was surprisingly lighter than I'd expected. Yamame's handiwork, no doubt. She really could work wonders with clothing. Reimu had changed her outfit slightly, too. She'd pulled out her own hakama, going all the way down to her ankles, and she'd even switched from the usual vest and detached sleeves to something more like a traditional Shrine Maiden. A white kimono, with red visible through the gaps at the shoulders. Her hair shimmered slightly in the sun, the shade appearing slightly less brown and...Perhaps just slightly purple. Curious.

"I'm kind of glad we're going this way." Reimu suddenly announced as we headed down the stairs. "I wanted to say...Well, thank you." Thank you? I asked her what she was thanking me for. "For - Just for showing up. For getting to know me. All through that storm last Summer, I'd been conflicted about...Us. What we were to each other." So had I. It had been a massive relief to finally get it straight and clear in my head. "I'm proud." Reimu finally said. "Proud to say that you're my little brother. A Hakurei, even if not by blood."

I was silent for a few minutes as we headed down the path from the Shrine. It wasn't the easiest statement to just respond to. Thank you for exactly the same, I replied. For letting me consider her my big sister, and for saying that I could use the Hakurei name. For learning to get along with Yamame and her sisters and not pushing them away. For everything she'd done for me for most of my life when I hadn't even known why we were linked. I most likely wouldn't have made it to this moment, here and now, without Reimu's presence.

But why had she brought this up now? "Well, it's just that you're about to get married...It's a major change, so it got me thinking back on things." Funnily enough, that had been exactly what Hell Lady Hecatia had said to me just recently. Perhaps Reimu should start talking to her more often, too. "Oh, no - You got me to accept Yamame, but I'm very happy keeping Hecatia Lapislazuli at the distance she's currently at, thank you very much."

The sun was starting to rise higher in the sky, and Reimu looked up toward it. "...Midday in..." She squinted up at the sky. "...Two hours. Okay, that's fine." How had she known that? "Er, I don't really know...It's not really a power of mine, it's just...Something I can sort of do. Only sort of - I can just barely get a sense of the time when I look up at the sky. Not - Not like, 'it's noon', but a more specific sense. I don't know...It's just some weird thing. Maybe it's just my intuition at work." Yeah, I supposed that made sense. "We'd best get a move on, though. We might actually be late at this rate." She hurried me on, and I rushed toward my wedding. Toward where I would marry Yamame Kurodani.

Toward my future.
