wow, i didn't think this would get so many responses. I guess I wasn't the only one to feel this way.

I don't think it's hard for most of us to identify with the protagonists plight, and Saya is actually quite, umm, reserved and intelligent once you realize her true power. In reality, when you consider her true nature, she has a very kind and human (really transhuman) heart, that really makes the ending bittersweet. Heck, she is practically like a Messiah, when you consider the ensuing transformation of the world, through her love.

All in all, I feel it is really a triumphant love story where love conquers all, even against all odds.
