I love Takamori! A Way Out was hilarious fun and their sleepover off-collab was extremely wholesome and cute!
I love Gurame! Their Minecraft streams are some of the most adorable chummy goodness you can experience in Hololive!
I love Ina! Her Clubhouse Games solo collab was really cool!

>I think the most important thing is just having fun
Agreed.

Unfortunately, this is more difficult than it sounds. Finding 面白い content, even in a language like Japanese, can prove quite challenging. Not being fluent is always going to reduce your potential enjoyment of something, and the further something is beyond your level, the more true that becomes. The beginning period when you are absolute shit at Japanese is especially tough to get through and really relies on you finding that one golden egg out there which is both relatively easy and fun & interesting (to you in particular).

>I think video games are fun so you know I got a shitton of things to do in Japanese that satisfy my zoomer brain
Here is one thing I specifically wanted to touch on in relation to the above point. Something like a game can really lose its entertainment value when you're having to break away from the gameplay to look up words all the time.

It's a simple fact that most things out there are garbage, though if you're prepared to dig a little, there are plenty of gems to be found... at least if you're a native speaker. As a second language learner, you might dig and still find gems, but many of them will be locked in chests that you don't have the keys to right now, so the selection of fun, interesting content available to you is much more limited than it otherwise would be.

The biggest challenge for me in my 2 years of learning by far has simply been the task of trying to find entertaining, engaging media to consume.

The bayesian rating system VNDB uses is so unfit for purpose. It weights down the rating of "unpopular" VNs to prevent titles with only a single rating of 10/10 from appearing at the top of the list when you sort by rating, which is all well and good, but its definition of what constitutes an unpopular VN is seriously skewed due to the fact that, on a website designed to cater to gaijin who by and large don't speak Japanese, untranslated VNs simply can't compete with translated ones in terms of popularity. It's totally unfair to judge the popularity of untranslated VNs by the same metric as VNs which have been translated into half a dozen different languages, but this is exactly how the bayesian rating on the VNDB site works.

The result is that relatively popular untranslated VNs have their ratings massively weighted down in favour of relatively unpopular and/or mediocre translated ones, and when you sort by rating looking for something good to read all the decent but untranslated titles are sitting at the bottom of the page (or maybe several pages back) with ratings of 6.**/10 when their average ratings might be around 8/10.

Untranslated VNs should be weighted differently than translated ones. Maybe the amount of different languages a VN has been translated into should be factored into the calculation of its weighted rating or something. Would also be nice to be able to sort by average rating, though with the option to hide VNs with less than X amount of votes (to get rid of the aforementioned ones with only one or two ratings of 10/10), and also to be able to hide translated VNs so they don't bury the untranslated ones in your search results when sorting by popularity or bayesian rating.
